I was born in Barranquilla on the northern Caribbean coast of Colombia, what I call " the happiest city of the world ". I came to the USA in 1982, and the first thing that I did was take English classes at Bergen Community College of Hackensack, where I graduated and won scholarship.
I went to study at the Center for the Media Arts of New York and I graduated in 1985 as a Professional Graphic Designer.
I undertook my first art proyect at 18 ,when I painted designs on my friends shirts for Carnaval, decades later I still got carnaval on my mind. My acrylics paintings are abstracts and figurative despictions of the elaborated masks that festival-goers wear during the celebrations. My art focuses on life in the Caribbean and the customs of our ancester civilizations of my continent., I use the vibrant colors to show the cheerful nature of my people.
I live in Lodi New Jersey where I have converted my basement into an Art Studio, I often spend 12 straight hours working on my painting from start to finish. I paint mostly abstract and cubists.
My paintings express the strenght and weakness inner me.
Each brushstroke build up story where you can be reflect it yourself.
I am captivated by color and pattern. Each piece is a result of an emotion I feel.
I translate that emotion with color, textures and figures. I try to express whatever has inspired me in a way as to evoke the viewers own imagination.
I value each and everyone of my collectors and strive to provide them with both beauty and quality, and ultimately a piece they can forever enjoy.
ART IS PASSION AND ALWAYS WILL BE IN ME!
