I like to take my own photographs for commissioned work. I spend an hour or two in the client's home getting to know them, letting them get comfortable around me and hearing about their expectations. Even young children have their opinions about how they want to be photographed. I usually take 100 photographs or more when working with children. My good digital camera has been my best investment.

If you have a special photograph that you want painted, I will be glad to paint a portrait from it. I do this sometimes particularly in the case of posthumous portraits. The best photograph is one taken withough a flash. Outside photographs are usually good, too.
