I'm a self-taught beadwork artist located in the greater Chicagoland area and specialize in the creation of beaded home decor, jewelry and personal accessory pieces. Much of the inspiration for my work comes from found objects and reclaimed materials which I repurpose and upcycle. I most often utilize bead stringing and off-loom weaving techniques but I continue to explore and develop new skills to further expand my line and enhance my work. Several years ago I began distributing my pieces through sales to family, friends and co-workers as well as participating in local art fairs and craft shows. In July 2004 I officially went into business and Kathleen A Turner Accessories (KATA) was born. Originally, most of my work was sold via word-of-mouth; however, due to increasing customer demand for a "storefront" through which to purchase items, in December 2005 KATA made its debut on the world wide web.
