“The Goat Herder and the Wood Spirit”
Warned by her elders to stay clear of Faerie forests and enchanted woods, little Muriel, the young goat herder, has made the mistake of sitting for breakfast under a very mischievous old tree spirit near a Faerie glen.

As I child I knew.
As a grown-up, I remember...
at bedtime, whether behind the cupboard, or nestled in the darkening shadow under the stairs, or in that sliver of inky blackness of a cracked open closet door and most certainly and most assuredly under the bed, there is a magical doorway.
I do not think I ever knew the name of the place that the doorway led.
But, I knew it was a country of moonbeams and starlight.
And in that twinkling land there were…
Faeries, Witches, the Wicked and the Most ‘Orrible Things, Pirates, and Lovelies.
