“…of ghostly matters.” I have been working on two projects back and forth over the many months. One is a collection of faerie tales and illustrations and the other is a compilation of spooky and scary stories and illustrations. More specifically, things that are...of ghostly matters. The Cramp Ring The cramp ring is an odd talisman used in older times. It was a ring fashioned from the iron hinges of old coffins whose occupants had long expired from this earth. The benefits of such a morbid and grim ring were relief from cramps and rheumatic fevers. Young Nathaniel Hawkins and William Cotton, two hopeful entrepreneurs, have slipped into the old abandoned boneyard, the cemetery, outside of the sleeping town with the aim of digging up a grave for its iron treasures to be hawked at the merchant square on the morrow. The not-so-abandoned graveyard sends the boy’s home empty handed and terrified. Nathaniel and William decide that they will try their fortune by becoming pirates. But, that is another story
