China is a land that has its fair share of spooks an’ ghosties an’ supernatural spirits. If you find yourself in these circumstances; lost on a dark forest path on a dark, dark night under the Chinese moon, I’m afraid you’ve encountered the ghostly Gui Shu, a haunted tree. A fearful thing is the Gui Shu tree spirit. To see the Gui Shu will set your teeth a dancin’ and whip your spine with the curly cold wisps of a good fright. The baleful banyan, the creepy conifer, the terrifying timber, the hoary an’ haunted horticulture delights in shifting and appearing in different spots along the forest paths to confuse and lose you. And here, the fate of young Victoria and Kim is at the mercy of the ghost tree as they tread, lost, through the night’s vapor. K.W. King
