Media:  recycled magazines, credit cards, glue
Dimensions:  16"x9" pressed wood
Date of Work:  January 2009

pick a card, any card, use it, abuse it, swipe it, max it, recycle it, raise it, destroy it....this collage served me two purposes, one to relieve my emotions about this dreadful economy and to finally, finally escape from my horrible compulsive shopaholic abusive disorder., which if you think about it, society and those dreadful credit card people, brain wash you, every credit card is either a sparkly color, it glitters, it's colorful, you can pick whatever you want for it, personalize it just for you, awwww, my shiney new credit card, ....., and they wonder WHY, why in the Hell do we max them out, free money for some, for others a trap, a demon, no way out, and in this shrinking and deadly economy, it is sink or swim, but most of us just drown, so pick a card any card, is your time up, or do you hold a lucky card...this is a mixture of recycled magazines (go green), and 15 cut up, maxed out, no good 2 year old credit cards cut into various shapes and sizes and glued down to make a house, and if you look, you will see "chase" around the collage, the main bailout dude, and under this collage is a picture of the original dwellers, the American Gothic portrait of the Farmer and his wife, and on the other side a traditional child's drawing of a happy family, but you cannot see them, they no longer exist...just the House of Cards.
