I am a completely self taught artist, with no formal training in art to speak of, I currently live in the Mountains of Virginia, which gives me plenty of fresh air and inspiration.
Just as every other true artist I have ever encountered, My soul craves to create, so even though I have not had much formal training in art beyond your basic required high school art class. I have been painting and creating art for more than 20 years, and I continue to grow as an artist all the time. I consider my talent a blessing and a true gift from God and thank him every day for it.
With all of this passion for creating, I can hardly contain it... it always finds a way... If it's not a painting, it's a photograph, if it's not a photograph it's a carving... you get the idea!
When I paint I prefer to paint in the style of realism and enjoy still-life and portraiture as my main subjects of choice.
I like to experiment with different styles and mediums, to step outside my comfort zone and exersice my creative minds eye... I will not limit my self as an artist.
My medium of choice is acrylic on stretched canvas, just because I like the way it feels under my hand & brush.
Yes, I am a photographer as well... A Word About My Photography.
Photography is a passion of mine too, and just as in painting, I have had no formal training or schooling in photography. Everything I know about photography I have taught myself through reading and experimentation. Photography and Painting for me go hand-in-hand since alot of my paintings are inspired by my photographs. They both alow me a great deal of creative expression. I love work "naturally" when photographing, using only natural available light (ambient light) to illluminate my images. My photography work mirrors my basic artistic style and allows me instant creative gratification. A great thing to have on those days when I am feeling less than patient with the brush in my hand!
Thank you for taking the time to view my work, I hope you have enjoyed looking at them as much as I have enjoyed creating them!
My Deepest Gratitude, Cori
