Media:  Acrylic on Wood
Dimensions:  24" Round
Date of Work:  06/2005

A revitalized 70's table top, hand-painted in acrylic on wood.

When I received this table from my client it was quite distressed. The delicate veneer on the original top had been so badly warped and the frame was quite rusted. She told me that it was heading for the dump if I didn't want it.

While I was looking at it, I noted that the metal was very heavy and that the rust was only on the surface so I could save it for her if she wished.

During our meeting over the table she chose a graphic from my collection of digital art, saying that she wanted something fun and colorfully unique that would be a conversation starter at her parties.

We agreed on a price for the piece being restored and for the art and I set about sanding the veneer away, revealing a stunning core of hardwood underneath. This was sealed with primer and the finished art work was hand painted with acrylics. Once cured, the top was sealed with an acrylic overlay. I lightly sanded the worst of the rust from the frame and presented it to the client for consideration. She rather liked the distressed look and so I lightly rubbed it with black Rustoleum, buffed it and sealed it with top coat.
