Media:  Acrylics on gallery canvas
Dimensions:  8" x 8" x .75"
Date of Work:  2005

Seeking to express the memory of an excrutiating decision I had to make in the past. There was a time in my life when I had to enter into a doorway that divided what was from what can be. I desparately searched for a reason - just ONE reason to stay among my happy memories that I knew inside & out; too afraid to climb the fences I've built up around myself to find happiness in new possibilities.

In this painting, I wanted to convey the rosey/technicolor cheeriness of past memories being overtaken by the fuzzy grayness of hurt and indecision. I also had to figure out how to include some way to express barriers, as I had built them up around myself until they not only held me in, but held me back as well. I chose to use a chain-link type pattern because even in it's abstract form it's inorganic *coldness* is present

Created in acrylics on stretched gallery-wrap canvas. Painting continues on staple-free sides.
