Motivation... I guess you could say I went back to thinking INside the box for this one.

I have a terrible addiction to sparkly things - mostly cz rings, artist pendants, etc. Sadly, this means I have a LOT of those little jewelry gift boxes which I eventually throw away when the stack gets too high. This show inspired me to look at them as more than just trinket boxes and think about how I could turn them into a work of art.

Materials...
I chose a small gold-foiled box - The gold foil gives a fun "gold-frame" appearance. I used india inks to paint the inner bottom and sides of the box. I took a discarded thin "gold" chain that had somehow survived the trashbin and buried itself on my desktop for an embarassingly number of months. I placed the clasp end of the chain into the lid of the box. Then placed the bottom of the box into the lid, which gently locks it into place.

The art can be hung by the chain on a wall, doorknob, etc. or if you prefer a desktop or shelf display, the chain can be easily removed.

Measures 2.5" wide x 1.5" tall x 1" deep. (Measures approx. 7.5" tall with chain)

I'm so pleased with the result, I plan to create similar works with the rest of my inventory of tiny boxes.

Status of Original: SOLD
