"bye Zeus (and thanks for the ride" is a late addition to the Europa series, which I painted about the life experience of unexpectedly leaving the US to live in Europe for two years. In the beginning I did feel somewhat "abducted", as if Zeus the dispenser of fates had hijacked mine and sent it spinning off in a direction I certainly never anticipated. By the time I completed this particular painting, I was grateful for what I went through and so I painted myself as a happy Europa, thanking Zeus for the magnificent adventure.
