Baby is a pet Hungarian giant house pigeon. He is one that I bred this year. I had to help him hatch from his egg, and saved his life when he had trouble hatching on his own. His color and markings are called blue grizzle. meaning he has the blue and white pattern. Hungarian giant house pigeons are a unique, rare breed of show pigeon. They have feathers on their legs called muffs. Which can grow to over six inches long if the bird doesn't break them off. Or they aren't trimmed during breeding season. They also have a tuft of feathers, on the back of their heads and necks called rossettes. They run up the back of the neck from the shoulders to the head in an upright position. The feathers form a clam shell around the back of the head. This is the second largest breed of pigeon. Next to giant runts. So this guy is pretty good sized. Pigeons can be kept as farm animals. They also make great show birds and pets. However, they are not for everyone. Its best to do your research and make sure you have the space and equipment for them before considering getting one.
