Artist Statement: With a broken heart and a crushed spirit, I left the visual art world behind in my early twenty's to pursue a career in the culinary arts. After years of running away from my original dream of being a painter, and my Creator who made me to want that dream, I surrendered all to Him as He whispered, "Pick up your paint brush." In response to my prayer, "What now?" My paintings will forever point back to God in praise and gratitude for His mercy and faithfulness in allowing me to re-create His extraordinary world in paint. If the viewer permits, the symbolism passionately painted into each of my works, will always speak truth to his/her heart through Jesus Christ, Savior of all who will have Him. Each of my paintings is artistically tagged with the initials 'SDG', or 'Soli Deo Gloria', Latin for "The glory to God alone." This is also how Bach signed all of his compositions, I thought it was so great, that I've adopted it as my own, as my way of directing all attention back to the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Artist Background: A self-taught artist at heart since childhood, I spent most of my adult life trying to figure out what to do with my passion for painting. After leaving the culinary arts world back in 2001, I've spent the last 5 ˝ years building, (with the Lord's help of course!) a successful mural, faux finishing and color design business under the name S.D.G. Artistry. Recreating everything from life-sized sports figures to sprawling Tuscan landscapes to even Blue's Clues has expanded my range as an artist more than I had ever known possible! Each client had unique taste, wants and needs and it was my job to get inside their head and heart to find and meet those desires perfectly. New custom built homes became my canvas. Room after room of blank walls, new and interesting architectural angles and depths met my need for challenge as I naturally stepped into the realm of interior design. Conceptually bringing colors, finishes and murals together, then seeing them tangibly come to life weeks or even months later as one. Individual works of art by room, coming together to form an entirely unique masterpiece as a whole called… a ‘home'. Some of these ‘masterpieces' in there entirety selling for over $20,000.00, and individual murals for as much as $4000.00. There is nothing like the satisfaction of seeing the happy client in their home, wonderfully surrounded by all my hard work and love! However, I recently realized that I could bring that same satisfaction, on a smaller canvas scale, to so many more by building a studio aspect to my business. After 14 years as a single mother, I married the most amazing man in back 2005, and his loving support has enabled me to spend more time in my home studio and less time hanging from scaffolding in 18' entryways! That time has produced what you see here, as well as some commissioned works that have sold for as much as $1600.00. It is with immeasurable gratitude that I am able to share some of my works with you at his time, and hopefully many more to come. My wish is that they will bless and inspire you. Thank You!
