Media:  Collage, metal plastic, paper
Dimensions:  6.75" x 4.75"
Date of Work:  10/06

In the 1950's there were a multitude of terrific gadgets for health and beauty. From fat jiggling weight reducers, chin straps, to bust enhancers, you name the body part and there was a gadget to improve it. My piece was inspired from an old barber training book from the time period. I used metal flashing, art papers, and a translucent rubber matting on my silly head massage collage. The instructional image is from the old barber book and I printed it on clear transparency paper, so the entire piece has a couple of plastic layers to look through. The materials I chose remind me of an old time barber shop, metal, rubber matting and faux wood grain.
