Media:  Glass Mosaic
Dimensions:  12 x 12
Date of Work:  2008

This round and wealthy gal was created to go with my King Squid. All of my squid and octopus mosaics have text collaged underneath the glass. My favorite line of text on this piece: "When octopus reproduce, males use a specialized arm ... usually the third right arm". Who would have thought? All of the text on this piece relates to reproduction. The words serve as a visual texture and I think their serious "educational" nature is a rather fun contrast to the playful almost cartoon like style I used on this big eyed gal. Her treasure chest was fun to create and I used really large beads, metal keys and other jewels. I have even thrown in a used metal wheel to some glass nippers. I really had fun with this piece.
