Inspiration from the art of an epic story and a stylistic period.

The story of the "Knights of the Round Table" has been an intriguing Celtic epic throughout the ages. Many of the paintings that I love are based on this tale and are done in a Pre-Raphaelite manner. Women of Camelot and other medieval stories were a focus of the style. Simplier, magical themes were showcased. Much of the focus was on the power of the feminine and relationship to nature. An example of a Pre-Raphaelite artist I love is John William Waterhouse.

The first Pre-Raphaelites were organized around 1848, called the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. This artistic group was formed by many accomplished artists, such as, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Sir Edward Burne-Jones, William Morris, and John Everett Millais. Waterhouse's paintings are represented in a Pre-Raphaelite form with realism and classical styles, where most are works of feminine beauty. The works of Waterhouse and the Brotherhood artists inspire me to capture the goddess during the simpler era before Raphael (Raffaello Sanzio). Raphael represented the High Renaissance where the pureness and simplicity of the medieval era was lost (however, I love Raphael's work too).
