My entry for the medicinals show. When I saw this show, I knew I had to do something with the spearmint pant flowering on my patio. A beautiful an aromatic plant!

Spearmint, the name alone makes you think of the sweet, calming tea! Used for stomach and digestive disorders, this mildly sweet tea warms you heart as it sooths the stomach!

Almost everyone knows this tea is good for the tummy, but did you know it also helps to lower a fever, treat bronchitis, the chills, clear nasal and respiratory problems, and is used by women to soften the blows of painful menstruation. Almost any ailment, spearmint will help!

Crush the stems or distil the essential oils to make a rub or ointment for stiffness, muscle pain, rheumatism, soreness and to reduce bruises! Smells better than putting a T-Bone on that back eye!!

The essential oil, mixed with vinegar in a rub or marinate on meat will start to break down the muscle tissue and stimulate your digestive track to process the meal easier. And I always thought mint lamb was just a great taste!

Spearmint has been used for centuries on many continents for so many ailments, it is truly one of my favorite herbal plants, yet I haven’t mentioned the best way to use it… Can you guess…. In chocolate!! What could be better for your aches and pains than a spearmint chocolate bar! A great stress reducer too!!

This shot was my second entry to the EBSQ “Flower of the Month (FOTM) – Medicinal Plants” Show in January, 2008.

This shot was my first entry to the Simon Sez Floral Competition. This was the eighth weekly themed Simon Sez competition in the EBSQ forums and ran the week of 10/13/2008-10/19/2008 and was Juried by EBSQ Artist Lisa Miller.
