Your “Main Squeeze” sitting in the middle and Rock and Roll blasting on the radio. A new truck rolling down the highway with nowhere to go, just cruising with no plans, no cares and no responsibilities. A simple life with no rushing, no “hustle and bustle”, no cell phones and no “have to get there NOW”. Free to just enjoy the ride.

When I saw this old GMC parked outside a 50’s style ice cream parlor, it immediately made me think of a road trip me and my family took when I was young. We took the parts of old route 66 that were still open and just set out for grandmas and no specific pace, reliving my parent’s youth for a couple weeks. We ended up behind a classic car club and just followed them for a while. It was like being transported through time.

I quickly snapped a pic, and had to edit it to bring in the neon colors of the 1950’s. I can picture it hanging in my dream garage, with a couple classic cars in different stages of being rebuilt, dreaming of once again cruising down the highway, and dreams of a less complicated time in my soul….

This shot was my first entry to the EBSQ “Get Your Kicks on Route 66” Show in July, 2008.
