Venus is the Roman goddess of love, beauty and fertility. Of those three, when I looked up portrayals of her, there were many that showed her beauty and love... but not as many that showed fertility.

Earlier portrayals of Venus showed her in all of her aspects, where more modern versions focus mostly on her sexuality. But, she was, in her original form, powerful in both her birth-giving and her death-bringing. She was at one point praised for both her light and her darkness... a mix that used to be considered admirable and beautiful in women.

Venus had a connection to light as well... she was known as the Evening Star (after the planet that was named for her). In addition to being called Evening Star, she was called Star of the Sea, or Stella Maris, a title which was later given to the Virgin Mary.
