This is a story of a time and place far far in the future. After several odd turns of fate, a few mistakes, and a series of illnesses that nearly eliminate our race, the overground society as we know it today recedes from the surface of the planet and, except for those that go into hiding, is completely wiped out. The human race finds itself enduring a time of hibernation it explores its values and we, as a people, progress in our sense of what is important.

Decades pass (who knows how many?) as the Earth settles and cleanses itself. After much time, on a day of peace and silence, the first people emerge to the surface and take the first important steps from caves as an ancient futuristic society. This new world arises as one of wonder where people live in ways that are old fashioned and traditional, embellished with knowledge of advanced technical ways. It is not long before people look to the skies and seek to explore them as well.

In this piece, people progress and look to their beloved memories of wildlife and nature to create mechanical birds that transport them into the air and allow them to rediscover and explore their new old world.
