Strawberries!

Simplicity is always the best!

The Fruit, some history

The United States is the leading strawberry growing country, and California is the leading strawberry growing state in the U.S. Eight out of 10 strawberries grown in the U.S. are grown in California! California has the sunny, warm weather that strawberries love. Strawberries also need a lot of water. Since most of California gets very little rain during the strawberry growing season, the fields are watered. In 2000 California strawberry farmers produced more than 1.5 billion pounds of strawberries. Now that's a lot of berries! American Indian cultures used many berries (blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, and mulberries) to make a staple food that preserved wild fruits by mixing them with corn meal to make bread or with animal fat to make a type of energy bars. Another recipe include corn meal and strawberries, which led to the creation of strawberry shortcake in modern America.

The Recipe

Head to those California Hills, pick some good specimens, rinse and place in a dish. Add mint and whip cream, eat, repeat!

The Image

Start with a studio shot, remove the color, paint on it, layout as a litho, lay in your text, print, Viola! A work of art from nature helps inspire a work of Art on paper.
