Gettysburg

The timing of this show is impeccable. Again, I must thank the staff at Ebsq for continued inspiration and the avenue to show the result. Thank you everyone!

Some time ago I read the "Art of War" from the basic text of Sun Tzu. The Art of War is a Chinese military treatise written during the 6th century BC by Sun Tzu. Composed of 13 chapters, each of which is devoted to one aspect of warfare, it has long been praised as the definitive work on military strategies and tactics of its time. It is one of the oldest military strategy books in the world. What fascinates me about the work is what I can take from it and apply to my own life today. I mean the challenge of keeping what I acquire. Protecting my life, my loved ones, and my home. It is not something to be taken lightly and requires much planning and sacrifice.

When a show pops up I want to participate in I either go to existing files and look for work or I shoot new work. This image is from a trip to Pennsylvania and a visit to Gettysburg National Military Park. I picked it because of the dramatic lighting and the simplicity of the image. At once the viewer knows what is important in the piece and it may convey a strong sense of power, or loneliness, or even signify an end.

The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory in the summer of 1863 that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Confederacy", it was the war's bloodiest battle with 51,000 casualties. It also provided President Abraham Lincoln with the setting for his most famous address.
