Title: Melvin on the Steps

Many times my subjects have been the people closest to me at any given time willing or not. Good fortune has blessed me with willing friends and lovers to fill this passion in me, for that I am very grateful. Of course the term people includes all the animals too!

Many times when on the road shooting I take my greatest companion Melvin along. Here is a photograph of Melvin on the steps from the beach at Yaquina Head Lighthouse. He knows how to live and he had just been in the ocean hunting crab while I shot the Lighthouse. For this shot I simply asked him to "get down" which he did on command. Then I used my Minolta 7d and simply shot him relaxing still wet from his dip. Later I simply cropped and added a little contrast to the image.

In my humble opinion, a good image starts with a great subject and Melvin sure fills that requirement, then add some light, the rule of thirds, some S shaped lines and you are in business.

Good luck and keep shooting! Thanks for Viewing this piece!
