My son the bug lover found this giant preying mantis in our garden. I took lots of shots experimenting with the focus range. I watched the mantis turn his head away from the camera and look at my son. I guess he was trying to decide who was the bigger threat. I really like the dreamlike expression on my son's face slightly softened in the background. I used a canon rebel xti for this shot
