I had just gotten my Canon Rebel XTI a few months earlier and was still experimenting with focus range. In this image my intent was to focus past the bug in the jar in the foreground to my son Ben's face.
I edited out a few hormonal changes on his face (zits) and pen ink mark on his finger.
