I recently made this piece for a fellow mosaic artist who lives in Southern California. It's my rendition of sunrise along the Northern California coast. All the tile used in this piece was handmade by me. I roll out and kiln-fire white clay that's 1/8" thick then glaze fire it in a variety of colors. I call this type of tesserae "ceramic veneer" because it's thin and easy to cut and shape.
