This is what rubber ducks do when not in the bathtub.. Yep.. I caught this little guy sneaking into my sink of dishes. He sure does look happy in there among all the Polish pottery. I knew there was something I liked about this little guy. Lucky Duck! :D

This still life had started in my sink. I really loved my 50th painting in the series where I did a sink of dishes and thought it would be fun to do a still life with a rubber duck.. So I had the still life started wasn't sure what exactly I'd do.. but got busy doing other things around the house. I came back to the sink and see my husband balanced his coffee mug on top of my giant CA polka dot cup and he took the rubber duck and set it inside. As soon as I saw the set up.. I knew I had something. I threw in the spoon.. and VOILA.. I LOVED it! My husband now is saying he is my new still life assistant.. Ok.. I'll put him to work! heh :D!

This painting is also my entry into the EBSQ "Scintillating" show. Scintillate means to "Sparkle or shine".. Well.. the spoon, water from the faucet and even the dish soap sparkle from the sun coming through the window and the light that shines on the still life.. I love painting shiny things.. Show me something shiny or scintillating and you have my attention! :)
