Santa Barbara is my favourite city in California. I like to visit as much as I can and walk on the beach. I painted this from a photo I took one winter evening. I think it evokes a feeling of the quietness at dusk as the birds go to roost and the beach is theirs once again. Just like it must have been long before people populated this area. Its one of my favourite recent paintings.
