With this painting I started a series World of Beauty. I decided to paint this series for my mom about a month ago. She broke her leg at that time, and she lives far away from me, so I couldn’t come visit her right away. It was really hard for me not to be with my mom… I spoke with her on the phone and I asked her what she would like me to paint… but she just said to do what I feel… I remembered that when I was a child I was fascinated by how a caterpillar turns into a beautiful butterfly. It takes time for it to happen. And the healing process for my mom also takes time – she still needs to have a cast till the end of May. Maybe that’s why I decided to paint a butterfly – it’s like I know everything will be OK with my mom, we just need to wait. And I will be visiting her soon, and I know we’ll have a wonderful time together! My Butterfly is hand painted in acrylic on gallery wrap style canvas.
