Painted in watercolor and enhanced with gold water based ink, this luscious interpretation of a strawberry is inspired by both antique botanical prints and illuminated manuscripts of old. I often look at books and prints of flora and fauna, and I am always amazed at all the details down to the tiniest seed. One day, after cutting open strawberries for my cereal, I made a mental note of the amazing color and striations, and was later inspired to focus on the fruit's beautiful interior and paint this small watercolor painting.
