Inspired by close up photos of pollen granules and the scientific drawings of ocean creatures by Ernst Haeckel, this drawing explores the tonal variations that occur when watery ink washes are layered over each other. In addition to the rich texture of gray tones that develops during the layering process, I also add details with full strength black ink to create contrast and interest.
