My art has been primarily self taught, although I have had the good fortune to attend a few workshops given by some of my favorite artists. One of my admired teachers was Jan Kunz and another was Arne Westerman.My medium of choice is watercolor, with a focus on portraiture and figures. I find working from photographs is the best approach for me. Photos will "hold" the subtle shadows in place. However, I am studying to work from life. It seems the longer I study the more I have to learn.
I have experimented in everything from handmade books to painted furniture, collage, sculpture, and interior decorative techniques.
