I started with a scan of my original 2" x 2" miniature watercolor painting of a waterlily. I wanted a more unfocused, distorted watery effect for the piece, almost as though I were looking at the lily through a window streaming with rain. I applied some digital effects to the art. It began to take on a pointellist feeling. I printed it, and finished the painting by applying brushstrokes of acrylic paint, unifying washes of color and details with gray, brown and black pen and ink linework.
