How long have you been creating?
I have been painting since I was 8 years old when I attended art classes in my school. Given the option between ballet and art classes by my parents, I chose art. It seems that might be one of the biggest decisions in my life. I stopped art classes at the age of 18. However, art has already become part of my life ever since. I am self taught after that and began the journey as an artist.

What is your media of choice?
My favorite is acrylic, sometimes charcoal and watercolor, although my formal training was in watercolor.
Acrylic gives me room to express my thoughts and elaborate my subject matters and style.

What are your motivations for creating?
Although most of the time I create for myself, but the embrace from viewers is the greatest motivation.
Also, curiosity and excitement of discovery. I like to experiment. I categorized my work by the subject matter, seldom the style, because, I tend to go beyond the limitation of a specific style. My work reveals contradiction, which is my favorite way of painting, from very fluid acrylic layering techniques to impasto textural painting by knife.
Besides that, the beauty of nature, earth, and wildlife influence and dominate the topic and subject of my work.

What other artists or movements inform your work?
There is no really any specific artists or movements. However, I greatly admire works by artists who are creative, for example, Jaq Chartier, and works that are original and pioneering.

What do you find visually stimulating right now?
The principle of combining science and art stimulates my interest and gives me enthusiasm to create, experiment and bring my art to the next level.

What's the last book you read?
African American Quotations by Newman.

Tell us about some of your artistic goals for 2007.
My specific goal for Year 2007 is to organize an art fair in the bay area, California. Perhaps a relatively small scale and affordable one, so that local artists in the area could come together and exhibit their work. It will be so much fun and great opportunities. At the same time, raise fund for charities and non-profit organizations through selling art at this fair.
