Media:  pyrography on oak
Dimensions:  34" x 34" x 3/4"
Date of Work:  present

I began this work in progress last January with the start of a new studio venture, and decided to enter it into EBSQ's Unfinished Art show. Life got a bit more complicated with last year with trying to balance my studio and my family life, and because this piece is so large, it got put on the bottom of the totem pole. Recently, I've been digging up old, neglected pieces like this one and bringing them new life, ironically as my studio closed and I am confined to working at my kitchen table for the time being! This is a wonderful way to honor this piece and awaken the inspiration needed to finally finish it. This piece is pyrographed (woodburned) on a large piece of high-grade oak plywood. Eventually once the burning is finished, it will be painted with acrylic paint and then finished off with a sturdy coat of polyurethane and wired for hanging. Progress can be noted on my blog at www.earthfinart.blogspot.com.
