This is a demonstration and concept group of pieces composed of a chalice, paten and ceborium, the typical ritual objects used in the Catholic mass. A chalice holds wine, the paten holds the large host used in the ritual and the ceborium would hold the hosts given to the congregation.
The stem of the chalice is a cast piece of bronze representing a pillar of fire, The base and the cup are raised pieces of bronze with a vaguely triangular form. The paten, also bronze as is the ceborium, has an undulating edge reminiscent of the form of fire.
This is work that I completed During my undergraduate coursework in the LSU School of Art.
