The Nixie is a female water spirit who can shapeshift but are usually in human form. This one waits patiently with her male friend who prefers to stay a snake for now. According to Grimm, they can appear human but have the barest hint of animal features: the nix had "a slit ear", and the Nixie "a wet skirt". They may be of great help to any mortal in need or they may lure you to your death.
