Art: I Am Woman by Artist Ulrike 'Ricky' Martin
Doesn't every woman wish she had a crystal ball to see if the all too possible horror of breast cancer is in her future? Could we take preventative action if we knew what lays ahead? I also wanted this woman to come across as strong and powerful, able to deal with and handle anything that tries to trip her up along the way! I started by painting my pigmented molten waxes onto specialty encaustic paper. I cut the abstract paintings into random pieces and shaped the figure. I finished the background with encaustic paint. Support is an Ampersand Gessoboard.
