I did a series of these "Intimate Views" portraits, and my intent was to use both the image and a caption to suggest to the viewer a certain emotion or moment that might be a part of a universal experience, something familiar, even if negative, that most of us have known at one point in life or another. I worked at making the eyes piercing, the gaze that stays with you long after you stop looking at it. I endeavored to make each "portrait" speak to the viewer.
Inthis portrait, she is bemoaning the loss of her dreams, jealous of those around her who remain inspired and goal-driven. She has an emptiness that is quite poignant, even though she is filled with jealousy toward the productive and vital; her lassitude is eloquent, I think. Thank you for the time you invested in looking! Warmest Regards: Susi Franco
