"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." --Edgar Degas
Ever since I could hold a crayon, I have made fine art in one form or another--from popsicle stick boxes to pencil and oil portraits of family, friends and pets, to photographs of faraway places or my own backyard. I love color and the feelings it evokes: happiness, sorrow, excitement, even indifference. I try to emphasize color in my artwork using soft, subtle strokes or large bold splashes, depending on the subject. I believe art, in whatever form, enriches our lives. I hope my art encourages people to stop for a moment and see, not so much what I see, but what speaks to them.
I graduated from Queens College in Charlotte, NC with a BA in English Lit/Fine Art. I have worked with such artists as the late watercolorist Marbury Hill Brown and G. Lee Baumgarten in Charlotte and survived Elin Pendleton's Color Boot Camp. Currently, I am a member of Shelby Artists on Main in Shelbyville, KY and a founding member of ARTractions! The Cultural Arts Guild of Shelby County.
