King Tut's Mask

Art: King Tut's Mask by Artist Sara Field
This is my Nibblefest Art Contest entry for March. The theme this month is Ancient Egypt. I have painted a likeness of King Tut's gold death mask on a heavy, slightly textured tile which may be stoneware. As I painted, I tried to imagine what might be going through the mind of the original artist while painstakingly crafting this 24 pound mask of solid gold, inlaid lapis lazuli, carnelian, quartz, turquoise, obsidian, and colored glass. Search NFAC on ebay between the 20th and 27th of each month for fabulous works of art beginning at just 99 cents each.
