Grouse ~Sacred Spiral

Art: Grouse ~Sacred Spiral by Artist Sara Field
Representing the spirit guide Grouse. Many native tribes celebrate the Sacred Spiral in dance. The symbol of birth and rebirth teaches how to harmonize our external movements with Mother Earth's cycles offering the dance as a creation of selfless beauty.

This past spring a female grouse frequented our backyard pecking at the birdseed dropped from the feeders. But alas, we also have a red-tailed hawk who nests in the area. One morning all that was left of the grouse was a handful of beautiful feathers. I gathered these feathers and along with soft scupture, beads and wire created this piece. Her face I have hand sculpted from polymer clay.
