"The Protector"

Art: The Protector by Artist Roy S. Alba
She didn't take any crap. She wanted to win the Falkland War. That was done by sinking the Argentine enemy battle cruiser Belgrano. She said, "That ship was a danger to our boys!" Therefore, she gave the order to HMS Conqueror to torpedoe the Belgrano, killing enemy sailors rather than allowing her own to die. For seeing her own troops were protected she was lambasted by the media. I was stationed in Hawaii at the time this took place. Coincidentally, I was dating a British gal - Patricia - who also lived there. She was a typical British lady...very polite, but in her case, a devout pacifist. We discussed the above incident. Patricia: OOOOooeeeewwww, I cahn't believe Thatch-ah gave permission to torpedoooh that ship and kill awlll thoose people! Roy: Patricia, I can't believe your saying that. That ship was endangering your own guys down there. She had no retort...only looked at me with her mouth agape. (I'd love to know what happens in the female brain at those times.) Why couldn't Margaret Thatcher have been ours? You gotta love her...I do. Semper Fi Priminister Thatcher.
