Rosemary Babikan is a multi-dimensional artist known for her figurative work in oil, watercolor and porcelain. She is a graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago and studied under the well-known watercolorist Irving Shapiro, and the illustrious Bill Parks.
Before starting her family she worked as a commercial artist for one of the Bell Companies in the Midwest. Then Rosemary easily transitioned into freelance artwork doing portraits and landscapes on commission so she could be home with her children. Her love for children is evident in her softly illuminated watercolors depicting their innocence and beauty.
Later Rosemary developed an interest in three dimensional art and immersed herself in a wonderful learning experience with porcelain clay. She designed, sculpted, and produced realistic one-of-a-kind porcelain dolls and was on contract with the Knickerbocker Doll company until they were bought out by Marie Osmond. Doll making and costume design is still one of her passions.
Recently however, her love of oil paint with it's rich color and creamy texture has inspired her to return to the easel. Her subject matter includes people and places, using her life experiences from traveling both in the United States and abroad.
Rosemary and her husband have four daughters and live in Wildwood, Illinois.
