This is a portrait of Mary with her favorite snowman toy. She is just as smart as Lassie! It's a small piece, 5" x 7 1/2", acrylic on Arches cold press. I use Winsor Newton Finity Acrylics. They have a smooth texture like gouache. I paint in watery watercolor like layers building each layer until the final image is strong. I spend a lot of time with my subject. They weave their memories into the layers.
