Artist's Profile

My newest work is done in mosaics. I am using recycled and repurposed materials for these mosaics, both indoors and outdoors.   I still paint and enjoy watercolors and scratchboard drawings.  For the last 5 years I've been working on Mandalas in pen and ink and watercolor.  With the mosaics I am moving towards simplifying my old art to a new and more modern place and doing them in broken pottery and tiles.  I have spent the last couple of years producing mosaics for my hand build beach cottage.  I'm now making stepping stones for my garden.  All the materials I use are recycled.  I get inspired by the colors of glazes and the texture of clay and porcelain floor tiles.  I'm also inspired by the shapes and colors of nature.  I also enjoy breaking up big tiles. Now that's really fun

My formal art training began at Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles and I hold a BA in Studio Arts from Charter Oak State College. I studied Chinese Brushwork under Wang Chi-Yauan and watercolor under Zoltan Szabo.
