I've told a little story in this piece. There are mermen we do forget. Otherwise where would mermaids come from. That means that there are also merboys. And very mischievious ones at that. Here is a mother mermaid with three young sons. They like to collect shells and sometimes it just gets to be a bit much for Mom.
The images I used for all the creatures are from a calendar of old paintings. I also used images from vintage children's books and magazines. The title is from a vintage song book. The Mermaid's tail is made from paper that I decorated using waxpaper and paint. I painted the paper for the boy's tails.
One of a kind original. Done on primed masonite panel. Signed and dated on front. Signed, titled and dated on back.
