I have been going through my stash of magazines from the fifties looking for fodder for my collages. I am always struck by the "women do the work at home" slant of the ads and articles, but more so this week with International Women's Day coming up. I do have a wacky sense of humour and try to reflect this in some of my work.
I did this using a black matboard for the support. I added the image of a vintage book cover and an old time nude. I gave her a giant floor polisher from one of the old ads and then added phrases from the magazines, too. Coated with acrylic varnish for protection.
one of a kind original. Signed, dated and titled on back.
