For the show "Vice" I have chosen a series that I had been working on independently of this show but neatly fit the description. In all I have incorporated a wine glass into the composition of the nude. The vice in this painting is red wine as suggested by the title. This piece depicts less of a sensualtity ( although she is naked) and more of the depravity of the alcohol also suggesting abuse. This piece also hints at "vanity" yet another vice, that is more fully explored in another piece in this series.
This artwork depicts a woman sitting in front of her vanity sipping wine. There is a bright light shining through the window cast deep blue shadows.
This watercolor is drawn by hand in pencil on watercolor paper and then painted with watercolor in a traditional manner. The piece is signed by the artist in archival black ink. The edges were taped before painting to leave a white border around the work.
